About Rockland Center for the Arts:
Rockland Center for the Arts (RoCA) is a cultural center dedicated to experiencing and creating art through its School for the Arts, exhibitions, performing arts events, Summer Arts Day Camp, and outreach programs. Originally a grassroots organization, it has developed into one of the largest multi-arts centers in the lower Hudson Valley. Founded in 1947 by a group of community leaders & renowned artists, including Aaron Copland, Kurt Weill, & Helen Hayes, they drew on the artistic talent in their community by offering art "of a caliber seldom available outside of NYC". In the 1950s RoCA moved to the property in West Nyack, donated by Maryann Emerson, where it still resides. Today, RoCA attracts over 25,000 visitors & students annually from the region.
Continually dedicated to accessibility, RoCA offers free outreach programs as well as scholarship/work exchange opportunities. Our world-class contemporary art exhibitions are always free of charge, with The Catherine Konner Sculpture Park open seven days a week, dawn to dusk. Collaborations with community partners further arts education for all and increases both the impact and scope of our programming.
RoCA's mission is to inspire, educate and enrich the community by providing opportunities for all people to experience and participate in the cultural life of our region. By always presenting a range of relevant, thought-provoking programs for individuals and the community, RoCA engages through quality art experiences while always cultivating new audiences.
